Live fan arrivals from Yankee Stadium ahead of first game of MLB Opening Day, where New York Yankees play against Milwaukee Brewers.
MLB Opening Day 2025 is finally here, and the first pitch of the entire season will be thrown at Yankee Stadium as the Yankees take on the Brewers in the first game of the day.
The Yankees are entering this season fresh off their loss in the 2024 World Series to the Dodgers, and since then, the team has dealt with a barrage of injuries from Spring Training. Gerrit Cole, Luis Gil and Giancarlo Stanton will all start this season on the IL.
Former Cy Young winner Cole was shut down for the season following Tommy John surgery, while Gil is currently sidelined for at least three months and Stanton hasn’t resumed baseball activities yet following injuries to his calf and elbow.
During the offseason, the Yankees acquired Max Fried, Cody Bellinger, Paul Goldschmidt, and Devin Williams, and per The Post’s Greg Joyce, the team believes “it will be more athletic this season and better defensively.”
The Yankees will start LHP Carlos Rodón. During spring training, Rodón went 1-0 with a 5.40 earned run average (ER) over 10 innings pitched.
RHP Freddy Peralta will be on the mound for Milwaukee. Over 13.2 innings during Spring Training, Peralta went 1-2 with an 8.56 ERA.
