メジャーリーグ・古豪の大球団ボストン・レッドソックスに2023年に入団した日本人外野手、吉田正尚。
吉田は2022年12月にレッドソックスと5年9000万ドル・日本円にして約117億円の多くのメディアの予想を超える高待遇で契約を結び入団した。
レッドソックスがこれだけの大金を使い吉田を獲得したのは、バッティング能力はもちろんだが打席でのボール球を見極める力、選球眼も含めバッターとして出塁率がとても高いことが評価されたのが一番の要因だと言われている。
