「甲子園」では各都道府県の大会で優勝したチームがトーナメント戦を行って、日本一を決めます。
すべての試合がテレビ中継されて、決勝戦は夏休みに行われるので大人も子ども注目します。
強豪校が勝つ年もあれば、無名の高校が大番狂わせで優勝して、優勝校の監督や選手が話題になることもあります。
甲子園で活躍した選手は次の年からプロ野球選手として活躍することもあります。
メジャリーグのイチローも高校生の時には甲子園に出場していました。
残念ながら昨年はコロナで中止となってしまいましたが、今年は2年ぶりの甲子園が行われるので、楽しみにしている人は多いと思います。
まだ今はコロナで応援歌を歌ったり風船を飛ばしたりすることは禁止されていますが、パンデミックが落ち着いて思い切り応援できる日が待ち遠しいです。
